BreakinBear is Matt Wells and Matt Train. Wells is a breaks producer and drummer. He lives in Brighton. Train is a guitarist and song-writer. He lives in London. They began recording in Wells’ garage studio together in 1998 and have worked on various projects together since then.

BreakinBear was conceived after Wells showed Train something he had done with an old riff, putting new production around it and cutting the original track into samples of guitar and vocal parts. They continued to produce music in this way, taking Train’s fragments of songs and developing them with an electronic edge, increasingly influenced by retro video games, glitchy hip-hop, dubstep, electronica at large, breaks, and down-tempo.

BreakinBear will play in the UK throughout 2009, and are working on material for their first official release.
